Withheld numbers
Some callers hide their number. You can choose to turn them away instead of having your receptionist answer.
Go to Settings, then Call forwarding, and under Withheld numbers switch on Turn them away. It saves and takes effect straight away, and it’s off until you switch it on. The page shows the message they’ll hear, under What they hear.
What they’ll hear
Section titled “What they’ll hear”A short recorded message, the same for every business:
Sorry, we don’t accept calls from withheld numbers. Please call back with your caller ID shown. Goodbye.
Then the call ends. Your receptionist doesn’t answer, so there’s no message, no lead and no text to you.
Where you’ll see them
Section titled “Where you’ll see them”Turned-away calls stay in your call history. Go to Calls and switch the filter from Leads to All: they show as Rejected, withheld number. They don’t count towards the This week numbers on your Inbox, because your receptionist never answered them.
Before you switch it on
Section titled “Before you switch it on”Some genuine callers hide their number without meaning to, for example from a work phone. If a customer tells you they couldn’t get through, ask them to call back with their number showing, or switch the setting off.
