Name and voice

Your receptionist has a voice and a name, and both are yours to choose. Go to Settings, then Name & voice.

Type the name your receptionist introduces itself with. Leave it blank and it uses the name of the voice you’ve picked, so a male voice never answers under a female name.

As you type, the preview underneath shows your real greeting with the name in place, so you hear how the opener will land before you save.

Voices are grouped by region: Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, each with an accent label (Glaswegian, Southern, Manchester, Cockney and so on). Tap the play button on any row to hear a sample, then pick the one that suits your business. The default is a Scottish voice.

Your choice takes effect on the next call. Nothing else changes: your greeting, common questions and everything else stay as they are.

If callers hear your receptionist trip over a word (a place name, a product, a trade term like “MCB”), add it under Pronunciation. Enter the word, then how it sounds (for example “em-see-bee”), and your receptionist says it that way from the next call onwards.

Write the spelling the way you would read it out loud, with hyphens or spaces between the sounds. Your receptionist says that spelling in place of the word.

One word per row. If a name has two words, give each its own row: a row whose word has a space in it is saved but not spoken, and the screen tells you which ones those are.

Tap Save changes at the top. If you came here from the setup checklist, saving ticks the step off.
